Does Satellite Direct Do What It Promises?
Looking at it, Satellite Direct is a miraculous product: it does a lot of things. At the first glance, it seems that Satellite Direct can help you reduce your monthly cable bills. The question, however, is whether it is a good purchase for you?
The truth is, you need to have a purpose for buying the product first. Contrary to what you may have read, it doesn’t stream 3500 channels. It streams about 2000 but that, often, is more than enough ‘if’ this list consists of channels such as the major news channels (Fox), sports channels (Direct Sports), etc.
This list does not consist major sports, entertainment or any other channel in the major category though, as my Satellite Direct review will tell you. The list consists of channels that can mostly be found for free on the Internet. Only DTH or Cable lines will be able to stream actual channels to your home. That, of course, costs a little bit every month.
Another problem that I can see is that it uses your Internet connection. You can thus forget about ‘quality’ aspect of the stream if you have a low-speed Internet connection. Bandwidth limits are yet another concern. One way or the other, you end up paying a monthly fee.
Those who are not looking to stream the major channels are want the feeds of weather channels, local/regional channels from any county, for them the product is decent. The product does stream a reasonable number of channels and at $50.00, it isn’t a particularly expensive product. It won’t save you $50-100/month yet it’s a decent product.
You can rest assured that the product does most of what it claims. The problem, perhaps, is the hype surrounding the number of channels, the quality, the price, etc. It is a herculean task – almost impossible, actually! – to find a “review” that is an actual review. Most of them are biased and concentrate on the positive aspects of the product.
Don’t believe every word you read. Look around and find some forums where you can get an objective view of things. There are several respected review sites too (for example, CNet, etc) where you may find a Satellite Direct review. It would be even better if you could get someone who has good knowledge of how the product works, what it consists of, etc to guide you.
Do not cut corners or fall for the tall claims. Try and find out the “details” of the company that produces and promotes these products. Find out their phone numbers and if possible, call them. Experience will build up with research and it’ll help you in the future.
